Star Soccer Player Blaise Matuidi Teams Up With Skeleton Concept For A Limited Edition Fit To Travel

High energy and tactical intelligence are words that best describe star soccer player Blaise Matuidi on the field. The French native attended the prestigious Clairefontaine academy, after which he quickly made a career as the midfielder teams can build their victories on. Matuidi played for Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and currently for Inter Miami, while representing France in two UEFA European Football Championships and two FIFA World Cups, becoming world champion in 2018. As a man of style, Matuidi also has a deep passion for watches, which is why he teamed up with Skeleton Concept to create a limited-edition travel watch.

Skeleton Concept is an atelier located in Paris that focuses on customizing timepieces at a very high level. Thanks to a keen eye for detail, combined with old-school craftsmanship and cutting-edge engineering, Skeleton Concept can deliver an unsurpassed level of quality, as also becomes evident in the piece they created together with Matuidi. The signature lines of the GMT-Master II are still evident, but the watch itself made a transition from 2D to 3D, as it not only lacks a dial but also is the movement skeletonized.

In this timepiece, green is a focus color, adding a sense of elegance and referring to the soccer field on which Matuidi excels. It decorates the GMT hand and part of the bridges, as well as the chapter ring on which hours and minutes are conveniently marked. Throughout the watch, we see that beauty and convenience in everyday life go hand in hand. A beautiful and thoughtful detail is also the transparent date wheel, on which the number 14 is also printed in green, the number Matuidi played with for most of his career.

We also find green at the back of the watch, where Skeleton Concept replaced the closed caseback with a see-through one. Here we can admire more of the skeletonized movement, which gives the watch a tremendous amount of depth and a highly technical character. Skeleton Concept even went as far as opening up the barrel, allowing owners of this edition limited to 40 pieces to admire the mainspring. The ceramic bezel and robust Oyster-bracelet complement the sportive character of this timepiece. While a thing of beauty during the day, it is equally appealing at night because then the entire movement lights up. This shows a different side of the rich character of this exceptional creation.
